TASC Test: It's All About Second Chances
We offer the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) preparation classes to adults who have not earned a high school diploma or equivalency. The TASC is a national high school equivalency assessment that assesses five subject areas including Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. It measures examinees levels of achievement relative to that of graduating high school seniors, and career and college readiness, as outlined by the Common Core State Standards. The TASC is an alternative to or a replacement of the GED Test in many states across the nation.
Individuals interested in participating in these classes are required to take a pre-test which is equivalent to grades 6-8.9. This test is used as a gauge to determine basic competency levels in writing, reading, and mathematics.
The curriculum is then tailored to the participant tested grade level, ranging from Adult Basic Education Literacy (0-1.9) through Adult Secondary Education (11-12.9). Coursework includes writing, reading, mathematics, social studies, and science. Acquiring self-confidence and self-esteem to re-enter an academic environment are also emphasized.
